Refund & Returns Policy
At TRE 4x4, we stand behind the quality of our products. This policy applies to all purchases made from our website or through our authorized dealers in Australia.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL)
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and for compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes your statutory rights.
1. Change of mind / wrong product selected
We do not offer refunds or exchanges if you simply change your mind, decide you no longer need the product, or made a mistake when ordering.
If you wish to exchange a product for a different item (not due to a fault), we may allow this at our sole discretion within 7 days of delivery, provided:
The product is unused, in re-saleable condition, and in original packaging.
You provide proof of purchase.
You pay for all shipping costs associated with the return and exchange.
If the original product was purchased on a promotion that has ended, you will be required to pay the difference to the full retail price for the new item.
We may charge a reasonable restocking fee (up to 20%) for change-of-mind returns, which will be clearly communicated before the return is accepted.
2. Faulty, damaged or wrong item received
If your product is faulty, damaged on arrival, or not what you ordered, please contact us immediately.
2.1 Minor failure (not a major failure)
If the problem is minor and can be fixed, we may choose to repair the product or replace it with an identical or equivalent product. We will do so within a reasonable time and at no cost to you.
2.2 Major failure
A major failure includes, for example:
The product is unsafe or significantly different from description;
The product would not have been purchased by a reasonable consumer fully aware of the nature and extent of the problem;
The fault cannot be fixed within a reasonable time.
If a major failure occurs, you may choose to (choose one option):
Return the product for a full refund.
Return the product for a replacement of the same type.
Keep the product and claim compensation for the drop in value.
We will cover all reasonable return shipping costs for faulty or incorrect products.
3. Warranty periods (specific to TRE 4x4 products)
These warranty periods apply in addition to your ACL rights. The warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
For all warranty claims, you must provide proof of purchase (receipt or invoice) and, where requested, photos/videos describing the defect.
4. What is NOT covered under warranty
The following are not covered by our warranty (but your statutory rights may still apply if the failure is due to a manufacturing defect):
Damage caused by incorrect installation, modification, misuse, abuse, neglect, accident, or overloading (beyond specified capacity).
Commercial use, competition, racing, or extreme sports use unless specifically approved by TRE 4x4.
Use with tyre size exceeding 37 inches (for relevant components).
Operating locking differential at speed>10km/h causing clutch gear/side gear damage.
Normal wear and tear, degradation, or consumable parts (e.g., wire rope, motor brushes, seals, O-rings, bulbs after 3 months for fridge lights).
Products modified or repaired by anyone not authorized by TRE 4x4.
Damage from incorrect or fluctuating voltage supply.
Products lacking proof of purchase or purchased outside the warranty period.
We do not cover labour charges for removal/reinstallation, freight costs to/from our service centre (unless the product is faulty and we agree to cover them under ACL), or any consequential losses beyond what is required by law.
5. Returns process (for faulty items & warranty claims)
Step 1 – Contact us
Email our after-sales team at contact@tre4x4.com with:
Proof of purchase (order number, receipt)
Description of the problem
Photos / videos showing the issue
Step 2 – Obtain return authorization
Do not send any product back without first receiving a return authorization and return address from us. Unauthorize returns may not be accepted.
Step 3 – Return the product
If the product is faulty and we are responsible, we will provide you with a return shipping label or reimburse reasonable shipping costs (please keep receipts).
If the product is being returned for a non-fault reason (e.g., change of mind), you are responsible for all return shipping costs.
Step 4 – Inspection & remedy
Once we receive the returned product, we will inspect it within a reasonable time (usually 5–10 business days).
If a major failure is confirmed: you may choose a full refund or replacement.
If a minor failure is confirmed: we will repair or replace the product at our cost.
If no fault is found or the issue is excluded from warranty: we will contact you to arrange return of the product (you may be charged for return shipping and any inspection fee, which will be advised in advance).
6. Refunds
Refunds will be processed using your original payment method. Please allow up to 10 business days for the refund to appear in your account after we approve it.
We do not refund any shipping fees originally paid for delivery unless the product is faulty or we sent the wrong item.
If a product was purchased as a gift and shipped directly to the recipient, we will issue a gift credit to the recipient for a faulty return. Otherwise, we will refund the original purchaser.
7. Exchanges (not due to a fault)
We do not offer direct exchanges for change of mind. If you want a different product, please return the original item (subject to our change-of-mind policy) and place a new order separately.
8. Restocking fee
For change-of-mind returns that we agree to accept, we may charge a restocking fee of up to 20% of the product price to cover handling and repackaging costs. This fee will be deducted from your refund. No restocking fee applies to returns for faulty or incorrect products.

10. Important note about vehicle modifications
Installation of aftermarket products may affect your vehicle’s manufacturer warranty. We recommend reviewing your vehicle’s warranty terms before purchasing or installing any TRE 4x4 product. TRE 4x4 is not responsible for any voiding of vehicle manufacturer warranties.
